Social Media is NOT always sociable!

Social Media is fairly new when you consider all the ways we have been connecting through time. IRCs, Internet Relay Chats, was first used in 1988. The first recognizable social media site was Six Degrees and was created in 1997. Sites like MySpace, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and others were not around until the early 2000s. As technology improved, so did the number of Social Media sites. Now I find myself having to choose the ones I want to concentrate on because I don’t have time to keep up with the chat in every one of them. AND Social Media is not sociable. So, here is MY opinion of the ones worth watching and the reasons why. I also added my connection link in case you would like to connect with me on any of these sites.

Social Media

Facebook

This is the one I spend time on regularly simply because that is where most of my friends and family post their updates. I want to try to stay informed about what is going on in their lives. The biggest problem with Facebook is that there is way too much junk on there. Now they have decided to censor comments from Christians and that, for me, is a serious problem that is causing me to reconsider using this site at all. If I can get most of my friends and family members to join some of the others then I will drop Facebook in a heartbeat. If, however; you want to connect with me on Facebook, here are my links:

  • PERSONAL PAGE This is where you can join me in my personal updates and chat.
  • BUSINESS PAGE Here is my page where I put most of my marketing information. Come here to see new offers with my part-time business endeavor.
  • MINISTRY PAGE Come here to keep up with what is happening in the Georgia Baptist Association.
  • LOCAL & SMALL BUSINESS GROUP This group is for small business owners to have a platform to market their business to Facebook without creating a page.

Twitter

Twitter has gone off the deep end for me and I refuse to post on it at this time. I know it might be a great place for evangelistic messages to be placed, but those who are controlling it are beginning to block those posts so I just don’t bother anymore. If things get better I will probably be back since I have lots of followers there and quite a few that I have been following. You can find me here.

Linkedin

In my opinion, this is one of the best sites for business owners and professionals to market their products and services. I like the way everything is laid out there and posting is simple and straightforward. You can connect with me here.

Instagram

I have to admit that this one presents some challenges for me because of the way posts have to be added. It is really a site for sharing photos. Some of the shared photos are not the kind I want to see, even from some of my family and friends. I still use it to post ads but don’t check it regularly so if you would like you can connect with me here.

MeWe

This is one that I consider a rising star in the Social Media realm. This site is dedicated to promoting freedom from censuring to help promote true freedom of speech and expression. Of course, that is not carte blanc freedom to post anything you like. They do have rules and restrictions that I completely agree with and try to abide by to the fullest extent. Things like not bashing others and not using inappropriate language to name a couple. If I can get all my peeps to make the move to MeWe, Facebook will no longer be used. Please join me here.

Parler

In an effort to offer less censorship of posts, this social media site was created in 2018 in Nashville, TN. It was founded by Jared ThomsonJohn Matze Jr.Rebekah Mercer and went through some growing pains in the very beginning. One of my favorite things about this site is the humor of The Babylon Bee. If you’re tired of being told what you can say then come join us at Parler.
