While 2020 and 2021 were difficult years because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we really had some great moments in Georgia this year. There have been some proud moments lately and I’m so glad I was able to watch it all take place. We are the Champions in Major League Baseball and College Football. And now we can boast about the Atlanta Braves – World Series 2021 Winners everywhere for at least an entire year. AND we can boast about the Georgia Bulldogs winning the National Championship!
There have been years when I didn’t even want to watch baseball anymore, but this was definitely not one of them. The NLCS was exciting and I watched every game although not all of them were live. (Don’t you just love the DVR?) It was tough to try not to see or hear any scores until after I got to watch the games. I have to admit that there were some tense moments when I had doubts, but they rose to the task every time. For a little while, we weren’t sure who their opponents would be in the World Series 2021. The Houston Astros gave me a scare once or twice as well.
When the World Series 2021 began I was confident that we were in good shape and then our starter, Charlie Morton, fractured his fibula it looked gloomy again. When the Atlanta Braves moved on to a 3-1 lead I just KNEW they were going to win it all the next night at home but that didn’t happen. At any rate, it was an amazing series and I’m glad I was able to see it happen. I know there are some lean years ahead because there always are ups and downs to at least I can come back here and relive “the good old days”.
College Football National Champions
I really thought this was going to be the year that our Georgia Bulldogs went undefeated. Although I attended Georgia Southern, I have always been a fan of the Dawgs. When they were defeated (again) by Alabama in the SEC playoff game, my confidence level dropped just a tad. After that, it seemed like an eternity until the National Championship game. And then the first half caused me some angst when Alabama took the lead. Stetson Bennett seemed to be lacking some of the confidence he had during ALL of the other games. Then came the fumble that changed everything. It was like the entire team finally woke up and began to play with renewed determination. The result was amazing and they were able to take home the trophy.
No Brainer
Many of those nights were very late for this old man and they began to take a toll. Fortunately, I have the answer to help me stay sharp no matter the situation. You need to try this! It works great for early mornings and long flights and the list goes on.
